Steven Spielberg, Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck all slated for San Diego Comic-Con

Warner Brothers has released details of its plans for this year’s Comic-Con event in San Diego, which takes place from July 20-23, and there’s plenty to keep fans busy.

It's no surprise that the DC Extended Universe features heavily in Warner Brothers' schedule, starting with a massive rollout for Justice League in the cavernous Hall H on Saturday, July 22.

Stars including Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Jason Momoa (Aquaman) will be in attendance. Fans of Superman, Henry Cavill, will be disappointed, he'll miss the big event due to his Mission Impossible 6 shooting schedule in New Zealand.

Warners hasn’t confirmed whether new director Joss Whedon will attend the panel – Whedon recently took over the final stages of post-production and reshoots as original director Zack Snyder stepped down due to a family emergency.

Whedon seems likely to be absent as the release makes no mention of him, still referring to Snyder, who has already done the vast majority of the work on the film.

Momoa looks set for a busy weekend as Aquaman has his own showcase with director James Wan, and since Gal Gadot is already in town, the event would seem to be a good time to tease fans with some Wonder Woman 2 news – maybe confirmation of director Patty Jenkins' return? Or perhaps not.

In another unsurprising announcement, it has been confirmed that film veteran Harrison Ford will be in the house alongside his Blade Runner 2049 co-star Ryan Gosling and the eagerly-anticipated film's director Denis Villeneuve.

Fans can also expect to get a glimpse of some new footage from many of the aforementioned movies.

The big surprise is the planned appearance of Steven Spielberg, who will debut some not yet seen footage from his upcoming sci-fi adaptation Ready Player One.

This will be Spielberg's first Comic-Con appearance since 2011 when he popped by to plug The Adventures of Tintin. There's no doubt the footage from his latest will prove a big draw as it doesn't hit cinemas till 2018.

Finally, Rival Marvel is yet to reveal its plans for the pop culture festival, but you can be sure they won't want to be upstaged, so expect footage and stars from some, or all, of Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man And The Wasp, and Captain Marvel.
