Hamilton is coming to Disney+, and the trailer is finally here. The new release is a recording of a live performance of a show at New York's Richard Rodgers Theatre, and it features the show's original Broadway cast, including Lin-Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton, Jonathan Groff as King George and Renee Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler. The trailer features extracts from two popular Hamilton songs, Alexander Hamilton and Satisfied. The show was originally slated for a 2021 cinema release, however in May, Hamilton's star and creator Miranda announced that it would be released on Disney+ a year earlier than planned, on Friday, July 3. The filmed performance has been helmed by the show's director, Thomas Kail. "I'm so proud of how beautifully Tommy Kail has brought Hamilton to the screen. He's given everyone who watches this film the best seat in the house," Miranda said of the release in May. "I'm so grateful to Disney and Disney+ for reimagining and moving up our release to July 4 weekend of this year, in light of the world turning upside down. I'm so grateful to all the fans who asked for this, and I'm so glad that we're able to make it happen. I'm so proud of this show. I can't wait for you to see it." The show has a very loyal fan following, and fans are delighted that they'll be getting a Hamilton fix from the comfort of their own homes. It is notoriously difficult to get tickets for on its runs on New York City's Broadway and London's West End. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity," one fan commented of the trailer on YouTube. "A record of the original cast? That is so, so rare. We are so lucky to be able to watch this." Another wrote: "Now I don’t have to fly to the other side of the world, yes!" The fact that it has remained loyal to the theatre show, and not been produced into a film adaptation, has also pleased fans. "I’m kind of glad it’s the original stage play and not an over the top CGI cinematic fest," another YouTuber commented. The National has reached out to OSN for details of UAE Disney+ streaming.
