Khan rivals Salman and Shah Rukh hug at iftar party

The Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have reconciled at an iftar party in Mumbai. The two superstars have remained on unfriendly terms since their spat at the actress Katrina Kaif's birthday party in 2008. At the Indian Congress leader Baba Siddique's iftar party held in a five-star hotel on Sunday, the two Khans shook hands and hugged after Siddique arranged a meeting. Salman was apparently the one who extended his hand to Shah Rukh. - IANS Avicii tops UK chart with fastest selling single of 2013 The Swedish artist Avicii hit the top of the British singles chart on Sunday with Wake Me Up, which became the fastest selling single of the year, the Official Charts Company said. Although he lost out in the singles chart, Thicke's Blurred Lines entered the album chart at No 1, pushing Jay-Z's Magna Carta... Holy Grail into second place. Swiss media are reporting that David Bowie, Sade and Oprah Winfrey are among the more than 120 guests invited to the Sunday event. About a month ago, the 73-year-old American star tied the knot with Bach, a 57-year-old German music executive and her longtime beau. Turner's marriage to her former musical partner, the late Ike Turner, ended in divorce. - AP Eega triumphs at Filmfare Awards The drama Eega came out triumphant at the 60th Filmfare Awards for India's southern industry, held on Saturday. The film picked up five gongs, including best film and best director in the Telugu category. The action drama Gabbar Singh nabbed three awards, including best actor to Pawan Kaylan. In the Tamil category, Vikram Prabhu's Kumki bagged three awards including best supporting actor for Thambi Ramaiah. In the Malayalam field, 22 Female Kottayam earned for stars its Fahad Fazil and Rima Kallingal the best male and female awards respectively. The drama Ayalum Njanum Thammil, a love story between two doctors, won the best Malayalam film, with Lal Jose picking up the directing award. - IANS Filipino director leads Locarno jury The Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz has been appointed as the president of the jury of the 66th Locarno International Film Festival. Diaz's films Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan (2013) and Batang West Side (2001) will also be screened in the festival, to be held August 7-17. The event will also feature a retrospective of the works of the 29-year-old Filipino director Raya Martin. - The National staff J Cole apologises for autism lyric The rapper J Cole is apologising to those with autism and their families for an offensive lyric. Cole says in a blog post that he doesn't agree with the recent trend of rappers facing pressure to apologise when they step over a perceived line, but in this case he feels he went too far in a verse he contributed to Drake's track Jodeci Freestyle. "To all those overcoming autism. You deserve medals, not disrespect. I hope you accept my sincere apology," Cole wrote. In Drake's song, Cole raps that he's "artistic" while his rivals are "autistic, retarded". "I was instantly embarrassed that I would be ignorant enough say something so hurtful," Cole wrote.
