Robin Williams has checked into a Minnesota facility for a short 12-step recovery programme. A spokeswoman for the 62-year-old actor-comedian said he planned the visit as a respite and to recharge after 18 straight months of work.
Williams has been open about his challenges of maintaining sobriety. He sought treatment when he relapsed in 2006 after staying sober for 20 years.
Publicist Mara Buxbaum said he wanted to take the opportunity to focus on his continued commitment.
The actor stars in the CBS series The Crazy Ones and the movie The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, which will release this year. He has also signed up to act in the next instalment of the Night at the Museum franchise. – AP
