Drivers in the UAE will once again pay the same rate for petrol in February 2021. Prices have been held by the Fuel Price Committee since April 2020, coinciding with the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Diesel however has ticked down by a few fils. The breakdown per litre is as follows: • <strong>Super 98:</strong> Dh1.91 • <strong>Special 95: </strong>Dh1.80 • <strong>Diesel:</strong> Dh2.01 Petrol prices in the UAE were liberalised in August 2015 to allow them to move in line with the market. Brent and its US counterpart, the West Texas Intermediate, have climbed nearly 10 per cent this year as countries rolled out their vaccination programmes, while a weaker US dollar has also helped. Crude prices are likely to average $54.7 per barrel in 2021, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/business/energy/oil-to-average-54-per-barrel-in-2021-amid-tightened-supply-adcb-says-1.1154987">said this week</a>. This IMF meanwhile <a href="https://www.thenationalnews.com/business/energy/imf-forecasts-oil-to-average-50-per-barrel-in-2021-1.1154217">expects oil prices to rebound</a> to an average of $50 per barrel this year, which is nearly 20 per cent higher than 2020 levels. Oil prices edged up on Friday by 0.4 per cent, to $55.76 a barrel. West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 0.1 per cent, to $52.41.
