Whether you want to watch a film screening of an old favourite or are looking for something for the little ones to do this summer, there are plenty of things happening around the UAE. For one, the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi is hosting a decoupage workshop for anyone looking to refresh old items, while Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown has launched an Arabic-themed afternoon tea. Louvre Abu Dhabi and Arte have also teamed up for a special edible art collection, while Cinema Akil continues its Summer of Classics programme. Here are seven things to do around the Emirates, from August 19 to 25. The Cultural Foundation is hosting a one-day decoupage workshop at Al Marsam Al Hor on the second floor. Decoupage is a decorative technique that involves applying layers of cut-out paper designs onto various surfaces, such as wood, glass or metal, and then sealing them with varnish to create a smooth, embellished finish. It often incorporates additional elements such as paint effects, gold leaf and other ornamental details to enhance the visual appeal. Drivers race around a projected track and competitors gain points by collecting jewels or using power-ups, which range from a speed boost to laser gun. Races typically last about 20 minutes. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, and drivers must be at least 1.30 metres to reach the pedals. The exhibition is in the popup hall near the exit atrium. The museum's cafe will also offer a dessert menu inspired by the collection. There is also the option to add an art tour at the hotel for Dh50. Additionally, the mall also hosts workshops for children on topics such as gardening, recycling, handcrafts and eco art.
