Derryn Brown, a personal trainer at The Hundred Pilates Studio in Dubai, demonstrates the sixth exercise in our eight-part weekly series of workouts. Do this move alone or incorporate it into your own fitness routine. Go to www.thenational.ae/moveoftheweek, where we collect the workouts and post video demonstrations. 1. Start with one leg firmly on a step while rapidly bringing up the other knee to chest height. 2. Quickly reverse the knee back down, with toes touching the floor. Speed is key to keeping the heart rate up. 3. With the core tight at all times, focus on steady breathing. Repeat 20 times on each side while maintaining scissor actions with the hands. Top tip: While stairs or a deck are ideal, the exercises can also be done on a flat surface. • To book a private consultation with Derryn Brown, visit www.derrynbrown.com Follow us Follow us on Facebook for discussions, entertainment, reviews, wellness and news.
