Fairness and justice must prevail in Kavanaugh case

I refer to your news item Donald Trump orders FBI to reopen Brett Kavanaugh probe (September 28), the charges brought by Christine Blasey Ford merit thorough investigation. While Dr Ford and Mr Kavanaugh have both been through trauma and anguish in the last few weeks, now that the matter has become public it needs to be resolved. At stake are the reputations of a professor and a high-ranking member of the judiciary. Proving alleged misdemeanours is important, because if proof is not required anybody can make accusations about the past in order to destroy someone's reputation. Fairness and justice must prevail.

Be careful: bread and rice are not so actually nice

I write in reference to your article More awareness needed on fatal risks of heart disease for diabetics (September 30): more awareness on what is good and bad food would help. The diet here for many people is heavy in carbohydrates, but some people feel that if it is a grain, it is healthy. It is important for people to realise that breads and rice also contribute to high blood sugar.

Parking is a serious issue requiring speedy solutions

I refer to your article Hundreds of cars towed and motorists fined in crackdown on illegal parking in Abu Dhabi (September 30): Abu Dhabi has a real shortage of parking spaces and often those that exist are expensive to park in. Issues with parking need to be quickly resolved and the cost should be reduced. In Abu Dhabi airport, the cost of long-term parking can be more expensive than a flight.

Prayers for the dead and injured in Indonesia tsunami

I write in reference to your article Hundreds killed in Indonesia quake-tsunami (September 30): this touching article on the tsunami that killed more than 800 people on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi was sad to read. I pray for those who lost their lives and wish a speedy recovery to the injured and a return to normality for Indonesia.
