BEIJING // Hungary has advanced to the gold medal game in the men's water polo tournament for the third consecutive Olympics. The two-time defending gold medallists beat the reigning European Champions Montenegro 11-9 in the semi-finals today. Hungary, the only country still unbeaten in the 12-team field, will play the winner from the Serbia-United States match in the final on Sunday. Montenegro will play the loser in the bronze medal match. Hungary started slowly against Montenegro, falling behind 6-3 in the second quarter, but coach Denes Kemeny switched goalkeepers. It turned out to be the move of the game. With backup Istvan Gergely stopping almost every shot - including a penalty shot with four minutes left to play - Hungary outscored Montenegro 8-3 over the final two quarters. Gergely Kiss led the Hungarians with three goals. Norbert Madaras added two.
