MLB: The week in review

Players of the week Roy Halladay, Phillies: Halladay became the second pitcher this year to throw a perfect game when he retired all 27 Florida Marlins he faced on May 28. Long recognised as one of the most competitive and driven players in the game, only the Marlins weren't happy for him. Corey Hart, Brewers: The Milwaukee outfielder had nine hits last week, and made a lot of them count: six were for extra-bases with five homers and a double, resulting in 10 RBI - including six in one game alone.

Kendry Morales: Morales's hubris has been seen world-wide. Thanks to an emphatic leap into a group of teammates to celebrate a game-winning grand slam, Morales has a fractured ankle and may miss several months. Brett Gardner: Following a brilliant start, Gardner has cooled some. Last week, he had just four hits in 26 at-bats and saw his average dip below .300.

Cincinnati at St Louis, yesterday-tomorrow The Reds are the surprise team in the NL Central, leading the division at the one-third mark, but the Cardinals are close behind in the standings. Philadelphia at San Diego, Friday-Sunday The Phils have struggled in the last 10 days, but lead in the NL East. The Padres continue to hold off challengers in the West.
