Team Abu Dhabi Proton finished Round 6 of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Fuji, Japan in fifth place after a puncture ended the team’s hopes of a podium finish.
Racing in the LMGTE Am category at a sodden Fuji circuit, Abu Dhabi Proton began the race at the back of the grid before spinning behind the safety car that led the race for the opening 16 laps.
Abu Dhabi Racing’s Porsche 911 RSR moved up to third over the course of the opening two hours with Christian Ried behind the wheel.
Khaled Al Qubaisi took over for the second session but struggled in the wet conditions, briefly moving up to second before dropping to seventh.
Earl Bamber took charge of the final two stints of the race and was consistently the fastest driver on the track, moving the team up to third place and on track for a podium place.
However, with 25 minutes remaining, Bamber suffered a puncture after being hit by an LMP 1 car on the right rear side. After pitting to fix the problem, Bamber resumed the race in sixth before negotiating his way up one place to end in fifth.
“We knew that Fuji would not be an easy race, we struggled at the beginning thanks to the terrible conditions,” Al Qubaisi said. “However, we had a great car and the set-up was excellent so by the end of the race we were consistently putting in the fastest the lap times. We were on course for a podium finish, but unfortunately an LMP1 car hit us on the rear right side resulting in a puncture. Of course it’s disappointing but these things happen in racing; now we have to focus on the next round in Shanghai.

Microsoft’s ‘hacker-in-chief’ David Weston, creator of the tech company’s Windows Red Team, advises simple steps to help people avoid falling victim to cyber fraud:
1. Always get the latest operating system on your smartphone or desktop, as it will have the latest innovations. An outdated OS can erode away all investments made in securing your device or system.
2. After installing the latest OS version, keep it patched; this means repairing system vulnerabilities which are discovered after the infrastructure components are released in the market. The vast majority of attacks are based on out of date components – there are missing patches.
3. Multi-factor authentication is required. Move away from passwords as fast as possible, particularly for anything financial. Cybercriminals are targeting money through compromising the users’ identity – his username and password. So, get on the next level of security using fingertips or facial recognition.
4. Move your personal as well as professional data to the cloud, which has advanced threat detection mechanisms and analytics to spot any attempt. Even if you are hit by some ransomware, the chances of restoring the stolen data are higher because everything is backed up.
5. Make the right hardware selection and always refresh it. We are in a time where a number of security improvement processes are reliant on new processors and chip sets that come with embedded security features. Buy a new personal computer with a trusted computing module that has fingerprint or biometric cameras as additional measures of protection.

Why it pays to compare
A comparison of sending Dh20,000 from the UAE using two different routes at the same time - the first direct from a UAE bank to a bank in Germany, and the second from the same UAE bank via an online platform to Germany - found key differences in cost and speed. The transfers were both initiated on January 30.
Route 1: bank transfer
The UAE bank charged Dh152.25 for the Dh20,000 transfer. On top of that, their exchange rate margin added a difference of around Dh415, compared with the mid-market rate.
Total cost: Dh567.25 - around 2.9 per cent of the total amount
Total received: €4,670.30
Route 2: online platform
The UAE bank’s charge for sending Dh20,000 to a UK dirham-denominated account was Dh2.10. The exchange rate margin cost was Dh60, plus a Dh12 fee.
Total cost: Dh74.10, around 0.4 per cent of the transaction
Total received: €4,756
The UAE bank transfer was far quicker – around two to three working days, while the online platform took around four to five days, but was considerably cheaper. In the online platform transfer, the funds were also exposed to currency risk during the period it took for them to arrive.
What is graphene?

Graphene can also detect cancer cells in the early stages of the disease.
