Abu Dhabi's SummerFest shines on

ABU DHABI // The capital's annual SummerFest returns this month with a series of shows, comedy nights and concerts.

The festival will take place from June 27 to August 25, and continue through Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr.

As part of the festival, the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec), will host Show World, a series of 98 family-friendly stage productions taking place from June 27 to August 17.

Adnec shows will be performed twice daily, starting with Cartoon Network's 90-minute production Lazy Town Live On Stage - Roboticus.

Live productions based on the children's programmes Bananas in Pyjamas and Sesame Street will be performed during Ramadan and Eid. The UAE-produced Freej has also inspired a show, which will play in the last week of Ramadan.

Sultan Al Muhairi, manager of SummerFest Abu Dhabi, said: "This Show World line-up will ensure Adnec is the hottest and coolest place to be this summer."

SummerFest will also host "The United Nations of Comedy", four Qatar-based comedians who draw their humour from cultural differences. This show will take place at du Forum, Yas Island, on July 4 and 5. It will mark the Abu Dhabi entertainment district's first SummerFest.

With the exception of Eid, 40 Abu Dhabi hotels are offering special deals throughout the festival. Guests who book three or more nights at these hotels quoting the promotional code SFAD2013 will be given free tickets to Yas Waterworld and Ferrari World.

There will also be concerts, sports events, celebrity appearances and other theatre productions.

"With so many free-to-attend shows and such a varied line-up of international and home-grown stars, families will be spoilt for choice throughout the festival," said Mr Al Muhairi.
