DUBAI // A hotel worker who used a guest's credit card to buy a plane ticket for his friend has been sentenced to six months in jail.
The 26-year-old Indian FK, who was in charge of reservations, told the Criminal Court that he was sorry for what he had done.
His crime was discovered when the hotel guest inquired with his bank about a charge on his credit card bill for Dh2,090 by Emirates airline.
The bank told him he had purchased the ticket online and the hotel guest noticed that the date coincided with his stay at the Kempinski Hotel in Mall of the Emirates.
He reported the matter to police, who tracked the name on the ticket and arrested the hotel employee.
The hotel worker will be deported after his prison term.
