DUBAI // An Emirates Airlines employee confessed this morning to smoking marijuana and possessing 7.52g of it was sentenced to four years in prison by a Dubai court. <span>The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered YA’s deportation after he serves his prison term.</span> <span><br/>Prosecutors said YA, an engineer for Emirates, was arrested after a tip to Dubai police anti-narcotics officers. He was found in the </span> Marriott Marina, said records. <span><br/>Court records said no drugs were found during his arrest, but he willingly confessed to the officers that he had some marijuana in his room at the Emirates Airlines residence in Ras al Khor.</span> <span><br/>Records showed that he took the officers to his room and gave them a plastic bag containing the banned substance. </span> <span><br/>He also told them he had smoked marijuana, which he smuggled from India, one day before his arrest. </span> YA told prosecutors the drug was for his personal use, records show. <span><br/>The forensics report confirmed that the substance found in his possession was marijuana and that he had smoked some recently.<br/><br/>salamir@thenational.ae </span>
