Private schools in Dubai will close for the first three days of December for national holiday celebrations. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the emirate's private schools regulator, said the break was to mark Commemoration Day and National Day. The Cabinet had previously said public and private sector workers would receive three days off from December 1 to 3. Commemoration Day will be marked on Sunday, December 1, with the country's 48th National Day celebrated on December 2 and 3. With the break from the classroom and the office commencing on a Sunday, it means many employees and pupils will enjoy a five-day holiday. The KHDA – which has been become known for its light-hearted approach to social media – once again revealed the news with a healthy dose of humour. The Cabinet recently completed the timetable of holidays for the public and private sectors for the remainder of the year and for 2020.
