An Emirati father of nine died in a house fire in Al Faseel, Fujairah, on Thursday. Fahad Al Mismari, 39, was asleep with his wife in the master bedroom when the fire started some time before 2.44am. Police said he was asphyxiated by the smoke. The mother, also in her 30s, suffered from smoke inhalation and was sent to Fujairah hospital, while the rescue team saved nine children and two housemaids that were in the house at the time of the fire. Emerat Al Youm tweeted a picture of the deceased. It was the second fire in Al Faseel this week, following the death of a seven-month-old baby boy. The baby suffered severe burns in a house fire and died after being taken to hospital. Brig Ali Al Taniji, director of Fujairah Civil Defence, said that firefighters managed to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the house. Investigations are still ongoing to find the cause of the fire. The funeral of Fahad Al Mismari was held on Thursday after Dhuhr prayers at Abu Bakar Al Siddique mosque in Fujairah, and he was buried at Al Ghurfa Cemetery. Brig Al Taniji urged the community to install smoke detectors in their homes to avoid similar accidents in the future. He also advised the public to check the quality of the wires and the electronic devices before using them.
