A fire broke out in a boat docked at Bateen Marina boats repair workshop in Abu Dhabi but no casualties have been reported. The blaze was reported at 2.20pm on Tuesday and civil defence teams from Al Bateen station and a rapid intervention team from Al Falah were sent to the scene. ”Firefighters managed to quickly extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other boats as the area was full of flammable substances, tools and boats under repair,” said Col Mohammed Al Ansari, head of Abu Dhabi Civil Defence. No injuries were reported and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, he added. Col Al Ansari urged owners of repair workshops, industrial facilities and warehouses to adhere to fire safety rules and the right storage standards. “All sites should be well equipped with safety and prevention facilities to deal with any incident and act as the first line of defence,” he said. “A regular check-up should be carried out on all devices, generators, electrical connections, to ensure their validity.”
