ABU DHABI // The Creator has endowed humans with clothes to cover portions of their bodies, unlike animals which are always exposed.
So, this week’s sermon will state that one should always dress modestly.
“Our Lord has created men in the best of form and commanded His angels to prostrate for him,” worshippers will hear.
“The Almighty has availed for him provisions and ordered him to be observant of rules of modesty and decency. He has provided for him means to cover the generative portions of his body, and ordered him to conceal his imperfections.”
Because of this, Allah has raised humans above all other creatures.
A verse from the Quran says: “Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, is forbearing, modest and concealing and He loves modesty and concealment.”
Modesty is a key trait of all prophets, the sermon will say.
As the Prophet Mohammed said: “Moses was a shy person and used to cover his body completely because of his extensive shyness.”
Another hadith says: “A man should not see the private parts of another man and a woman should not see the private parts of another woman.”
This modesty is not exclusive to parts of the body, but also refers to people’s shortcomings as well.
The sermon will teach that those who commit sin in private may seek repentance, but the evildoerwho brags about his sin will not be forgiven.
“O Servants of Allah, please be aware that revealing wrongdoings may entice others to follow the same path. It is a condemnable act which sees the Mujahir (those who commit a sin openly or disclose their sins to the people) bearing the responsibility of leading people to commit sins like him,” says the sermon.
