ABU DHABI // A children's pain medication has been withdrawn from pharmacies across the country, days after it failed to pass quality and safety tests in the US. The Ministry of Health issued a circular yesterday afternoon to pharmacies, instructing them to remove all Tylenol-branded drops and suspensions from their shelves. Dr Amin al Amiri, the executive director of medical practices at the ministry, said the decision would "maintain public safety". McNeil Consumer Healthcare and the US Food and Drug Administration recalled more than 40 medicines on Friday for not meeting quality standards, including Tylenol for children. It said some might include a higher concentration of the active ingredient than specified. Dr Fatima al Braiki, of the ministry, said that other listed drugs available in the UAE were not made in the US and, therefore, not part of the recall. munderwood@thenational.ae
