Man accused of indecency intended to propose

ABU DHABI // A man accused of entering man’s house without permission and having an indecent relationship with his daughter said he was there to propose marriage.

The defendant, from India, has been accused along with the man’s daughter, A Q, also from India, of indecency after her father reported him to the police.

The father said he entered the house at 11am and found the defendant sitting with his daughter in the living room.

“She gave me an appointment to meet her father, and I waited for him at the majlis for 15 minutes to speak to him about the proposal,” he told the Criminal Court.

The court asked if the father knew he was going to visit them to propose.

“It was the first time I was going to speak to him about it,” he replied.

“Was there any relationship between you and the girl?” asked Chief Justice Idris BinMansour.

He denied, saying the father was angered when he saw him at the majlis and called the police accusing them of having an illicit relationship; and she confessed due to pressures from her father.

The case was adjourned until September 9.
