The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced a new road closure on the Hazza Bin Zayed and Al Najda Street intersection heading towards Al Salam Street, said the state news agency WAM. This will be implemented on Saturday to facilitate construction works on Al Salam Street, which will be the first motorway on Abu Dhabi Island. Motorists travelling from Hazza Bin Zayed Street or Al Najda Street intending to access Al Salam Street will have to take alternative routes such as Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street or Muroor. WAM did not say how long the closures will last. The Al Salam Street Project includes upgrading the existing road to an urban expressway with a network of roads and tunnels to provide a smooth free-flowing facility catering to an estimated 6,000 vehicles an hour in each direction, WAM reported. Upon completion of project, motorists will be able to travel through Al Salam Street without any traffic signals from Sheikh Zayed Bridge until Mina Zayed.
