RAK court sentences woman to three months for extortion



An Arab woman was sentenced by the Ras Al Khaimah criminal court to three months in prison for attempting to extort an Emirati man.

The man was received a call from an Arab woman claiming she had indecent photographs of him. Since he was certain such photos did not exist, he called the police and reported the incident.

The police set out to catch the woman, with the help of the victim, as she was collecting the money from him.

She confessed under interrogation that she committed the offence because she needed money.
