Workers can look forward to a three-day break to mark Commemoration Day and National Day after the UAE Cabinet approved a timetable of public holidays for the remainder of the year and for 2020. The agreed holiday dates - covering both the private sector and the public sector - will ensure residents will get an unbroken three day break to kick off December, starting with Commemoration Day on Sunday, December 1, with two days allotted for the country's 48th National Day celebrations on December 2 and 3. Many people off for the weekend prior will be able to make the most of a five-day stint away from the office. Previously, workers in both sectors were to be granted a day off on Saturday, November 30 in honour of Commemoration Day before returning to work for one day on December 1, ahead of the two-day National Day holiday, which remains unchanged. In March, the UAE Cabinet issued a decree unifying the number of holiday days between the public and private sector. Previously, the public sector would enjoy more days off than private companies. The next public holiday is fast approaching, with the Prophet's Birthday to be celebrated Saturday, November 9. A public holiday will usher in 2020 on New Year's Day, with the holidays previously outlined for next year remaining unchanged. ______________
