Three men admit to burning body of missing Emirati in revenge killing

Three men have confessed to killing and burning the body of a 21-year-old Emirati who has been missing since last month.

Nasser Ali Nasser left his family home in Rashidiya on October 27 to go on a road trip with three friends, but did not return.

Yesterday, Dubai Police referred the three men to Public Prosecution for interrogation, according to Wam.

One of the three confessed to committing the planned killing, while the other two confessed to witnessing the killing and aiding the first man in burning Mr Nasser's body, Wam said.

The men had driven with Mr Nasser towards Mahdha, an Omani border area, to drink alcohol, Dubai Attorney-General Essam Al Humaidan said in a statement yesterday.

They had planned to kill Mr Nasser in revenge, the statement said; Mr Nasser's uncle had allegedly killed one of their brothers.

Mr Nasser tried to persuade the men that he had nothing to do with "what his uncle had done," according to Wam.

However the men tried to sexually abuse Mr Nasser, then one of them strangled him to death with a car seat belt, Mr Al Humaidan said.

The men piled Mr Nasser's body with firewood, doused it with benzene and it on fire, Mr Al Humaidan said.

Last week, police announced that a body had been found in Oman that might be Mr Obaid's, but later said they did not believe it was his.
