UAE traffic: Delays of up to 40 minutes in Sharjah, congestion in Dubai



Motorists experienced a busy start to the week with heavy congestion reported in different parts of the Emirates.

Drivers heading northbound from Sharjah met congestion on Mohammed bin Zayed Road from Sharjah Ring Road towards Muhaisanah.

Delays of up to 40 minutes were expected on Al Ittihad Road and in the Al Nahda area, according to Google Maps.

In Dubai, motorists travelling on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road from the National Paints roundabout in Sharjah to Mirdif City Centre also experienced bumper to bumper traffic on Sunday morning.

Heavy traffic was reported at the airport tunnel and Ras Al Khor Road heading towards Dubai. Delays were reported in Al Barsha as well.

Commuters heading to Dubai on the Dubai-Al Ain Road after Zayed University experienced heavy traffic, while those travelling from Al Ain to the capital faced also faced congestion.

In Abu Dhabi, a car broke down on Sheikh Zayed Street on Saada Bridge inbound.

Abu Dhabi Traffic Police cleared the broken down vehicle from the road in 10 minutes.

In Ras Al Khaimah, drivers were alerted to drive with caution as fog patches were reported over the airport.

NCMS forecasters alerted drivers that the fog will increase causing visibility of less than 1,000 meters at times.
