Trio busted for illegally administering Botox in Al Ain

A man and two women were arrested for illegally administering Botox to clients in Al Ain, police said on Thursday.

Police were tipped off that the trio — an African man and two Asian women — were receiving clients at their home and illegally administering Botox without a medical licence.

Officers from Al Morabaa Police Department arrested the three at the house where they were caught performing the procedure. They also seized all the medical tools being stored in the villa.

Investigations revealed that the man was married to one of the two women and the three had been running the illegal business for fourth months — charging clients up to Dh6,000 per injection.

During police questioning, all three admitted to performing the cosmetic procedure illegally.

Botox is the brand name of a toxin that is widely used cosmetically to treat wrinkles. It is also used to treat migraines and some side effects of multiple sclerosis. In large amounts, this toxin can cause a form of muscle paralysis.

Last month, a woman who was illegally administering Botox to clients in Dubai was fined Dh10,000 by the criminal court.
