Aiming high in all matters and striving to achieve goals is a noble quality that Allah loves, the sermon will tell mosque-goers on Friday.
Prophet Mohammed reiterated this when he said, "Allah, the Most Exalted, loves high vigour and honourable deeds, and hates trivial pursuits."
Meaning whoever makes best use of their strength in attaining excellence will be loved by Allah.
The Quran repeatedly reminds Muslims to follow the example of people of vigour and strong determination, "those are the ones whom Allah has guided, so from their guidance take an example." (Al-Anaam: 90). The Quran also says, "so be patient, [Oh Mohammed], as were those of determination among the messengers." (Al-Ahqaf: 35).
The sermon will tell worshippers that Allah urges Muslims to pursue excellence and high ranks as well as compete in doing all that may benefit mankind, "so race to [all that is] good." (Al-Baqara: 148).
Competition is conducive to stimulating talents, raising spirits, creating leaders and to bring about benefits to individuals and societies.
The Prophet taught Muslims to be ambitious and set high goals for themselves. He said, "when you ask Allah (for something), ask for Al-Firdaus which is the best and highest part of Paradise."
Similarly, it was narrated that Umar Ibn Al Khattab said, "Never lose your high spirit, for carelessness drags you away from honourable deeds."
The sermon will tell mosque-goers that they should strive to achieve high ethics and good qualities through the power of intellect and excellence in performance.
The other factors that are fundamental for succeeding include self-confidence, dedication, planning, proactivity, respecting time, and learning about the experiences of others.
Furthermore, to achieve success, one needs steadfast and strong will but also should rely on Allah, who says in the Quran "and when you have decided, then rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him]." (Al Imran: 159).
Thus, with dedication and trust in Allah, one can perfect their work, show commitment, hasten to develop their capabilities and acquire sciences and knowledge.
