A UAE motorist working as an illegal taxi driver accrued more than Dh1.1 million in traffic fines in one year, officials have revealed. Police in Sharjah said the man, 31, was arrested on Wednesday after officers saw him picking up passengers without a valid licence. Examining his records, authorities discovered he had committed 106 traffic offences in the emirate in just 12 months. “After checking the driver’s file we found that he had committed 106 violation in one year," said Lt Col Mohammed bin Qasmul, acting director of Wasit police station. "The first one was registered against him on August 16, 2018." Sharjah Police urged all unlicensed taxis to register their vehicles and warned other motorists to adhere to traffic laws or face fines.
