The UAE Human Rights Association has welcomed Wadeema’s Law, the country’s child protection legislation approved this week by the Federal Cabinet. The association described it as a “sincere tribute” to Wadeema, an eight-year-old girl who was tortured and killed in Dubai. It said the law “strengthens the positive role played” by UAE leaders “in protecting rights of children to live in safety and peace”. The FNC will debate the 72-article draft law before returning it to the Cabinet to present to the President, Sheikh Khalifa, for final approval.
