A pop culture festival celebrating eSports, comics and YouTube content creators is coming to Dubai. Entitled PopC Live!, the inaugural event will be held over five days in March, although the exact date and location are yet to be announced. Highlights for the festival include an expansive eSports Zone, which will host gaming tournaments for games such as PUBG mobile, League of Legends and Dota 2, with top international eSports teams brought in to compete for tournament prize money. PopC Live! will also host the Girlgamer World Finals as well as other community tournaments by Galaxy Racer that will be open to the public. In addition to eSports, there will also be a focus on pop culture with panels, workshops, conferences and concerts. There are also promises of an Artists’ Alley, Cinema Club and celebrity meet-and-greets. The festival’s exhibitor zone will feature some of the biggest gaming publishers, comic book houses, toy companies and film and TV brands. The event’s main stage will have a line-up of regional and international music acts combined with a host of interactive performances. The event is organised by entertainment company Waverider and Dubai eSports organisation Galaxy Racer (GXR), while being supported by Brand Dubai as part of its vision to showcase the city as a leading hub for entertainment and eSports. “The hosting of PopC Live! for the first time in the region in Dubai not only reinforces the city’s status as a leading destination for digital content development, but also highlights its role as a leader in creating exciting new opportunities for youth in the region,” said Nehal Badri, director of Brand Dubai. “The partnership between Waverider and Galaxy Racer supports our efforts to encourage talent, creativity and entrepreneurship. The event will also contribute to further positioning Dubai as a major global venue for entertainment and sporting events.” More details are to be announced soon.
