eL Seed is <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/art/el-seed-to-create-mural-near-abu-dhabi-mall-1.707084">collaborating with 20 schoolchildren in Abu Dhabi</a> to produce a mural stretched across the wall of the Abu Dhabi Municipality Building, and now a sculpture by the Dubai-based artist has been installed next to Dubai Opera in Downtown Dubai. eL Seed, born in Tunisia and raised in France, has become well-known for his expressive calligraphic forms, spray-painted in cities across the globe and in areas – like the DMZ border between South and North Korea – that are potential conflict zones. His work is a kind of hybrid between street art and classical Arabic calligraphy: fat, angular letters outlined in bright red or blue, executed directly on buildings, or in this case, as a sculpture to be hung outside of a building. He shared this photo of the Dubai Opera piece: And also shared this 'throwback' of a sculpture work he created during his year's residency at Tashkeel Studio four years ago that looks very similar in style to the new Dubai Opera piece: In both of eL Seed's Instagram posts about the new Dubai work he's added the hashtag #BiancaCastafiore.
