An art exhibition called Face to Face is on display inside a pedestrian tunnel at one of London’s busiest rail stations. More nuanced portraits highlighting inequality and racism in 2020 are displayed in outdoor areas around King’s Cross station. It has been curated by British writer Ekow Eshun in partnership with the Fund for Global Human Rights, and features social documentary images from Africa, Latin America and Asia. “2020 has starkly exposed the consequences of inequality, racism and authoritarianism,” said James Logan, European director of the Fund for Global Human Rights. “Facing the crippling effects of Covid-19 and its devastating impact on marginalised communities, people are questioning the way our societies are set up, while movements like Black Lives Matter have highlighted how activism can challenge systemic human rights abuse.” Among the artists whose work is featured are Alejandro Cartagena, Margaret Courtney-Clarke, Medina Dugger, Mahtab Hussain, Dhruv Malhotra, Sabelo Mlangeni, George Osodi, Kyle Weeks. The images will be on display until Sunday, November 29.
