Learn about legal issues for artists

Learn about the ins and outs of legal issues surrounding art in a seminar taking place at Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre (Ductac) tonight. Subjects such as intellectual property and commercial and employment legal issues for artists will be covered at the talk organised by law firm Clyde & Co. The talk is also given in the context of the current exhibition in Ductac’s Gallery of Light. The winners of the 2016 edition of the MENA Art Award are on show in an exhibition that ends tonight.

It is an annual competition for emerging artists as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility. The idea is to nurture the talent of graduating art students and ease their transition from art school into the commercial art world - providing students with the opportunity to showcase and sell their selected works, as well as receiving pro bono legal and business advice from Clyde & Co lawyers. It now runs in the firm’s Dubai, London, Singapore, Sydney, Perth and San Francisco offices.
