One of China’s up and coming artists is launching an exhibtion of his work today in Dubai’s Harvey Nichols store. Kim Xu fuses fashion and art to create these stylised yet still artistic pieces, which he says are inspired by the women he sees around him in his home town of Shanghai.
Xu's work has been the focus of a number of high profile events and editorials such as a feature in Vogue magazine on "Fashion meets Art" and a collaboration with Hong Kong luxury brand Joyce. He has also contributed to London's fashion publication Wound, for which he produced a series of works inspired by the designs of Alexander McQueen, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana and Peter Pilotto.
In the current show in Harvey Nichols, the female form is the central figure and the collection is titled A woman is a piece of art. A woman is the whole world.
* Kim Xu’s exhibition runs from today until 31st October on Level 2, Harvey Nichols, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai.
