Three winners of what has been described as the Arab world's most sought-after literary prize will make appearances on the ADIBF discussion sofa at this year's fair. Now in its seventh year, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, an independent cultural award supported by TCA Abu Dhabi, rewards intellectuals, authors and inspirational thinkers in nine categories of academic and literary endeavour. The stated aim of this important award, which has a Dh7 million prize pot, is to "foster greater [regional] scholarship and creativity by recognising and rewarding significant cultural achievements". Dr Elizabeth Kassab, the recipient of the Contribution to the Development of Nations Award, will be at the book fair on Friday from 5.15pm to discuss her book, Contemporary Arab Thought, which has been praised for its deconstruction of the "cultural decolonisation" of the region. Dr Fathi Meskini, the recipient of the Translation Award, will be at the book fair from 11am on Saturday, when he will discuss his ground-breaking translation of Being and Time (1927) by the German philosopher Martin Heidegger. Adil Hadjami completes the trio of appearances.
