Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, have both tested positive for coronavirus in Australia, the actor said on Twitter. The actor said that he and Wilson, who are both 63, were tested in Australia, where he is working on a film, after they felt tired and achy with slight fevers. "To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the coronavirus and were found to be positive," Mr Hanks said in the tweet. He said that he and Wilson would be "tested, observed and isolated" for as long as required. "Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We'll keep the world posted and updated," Hanks said in the post. Rita shared the same post to her Instagram story. Hanks was in Australia filming for Baz Lurhmann's latest movie chronicling the life of Elvis Presley, in which he plays the rocker's manager, Colonel Tom Parker. According to reports, filming has now been postponed. The pair's son, Colin Hanks, tweeted to say, "We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone. My parents are receiving excellent care in Australia and are doing well (and in good spirits) given the circumstances,” he said. He added that he had been in “constant contact” with his parents, despite not seeing them for three weeks, and that he was “confident” they would both make a full recovery. It is also being reported locally that hosts of Australia's Today Extra show have been placed in isolation as a precaution after coming into contact with the couple in recent days. It comes just hours after the World Health Organisation declared the Covid-19 outbreak as a global pandemic, urging countries to take greater action to contain further cases. Shortly afterwards, President Donald Trump announced that the US would be suspending all travel from Europe for 30 days, starting from midnight on Friday, March 13. More than 121,000 people have been infected with Covid-19 in 118 countries and over 4,300 people have died of the virus.
