Disney's Aladdin has surpassed $500 million at box offices around the world in just over two weeks. In the 15 days since its release, the live action remake has become the third highest grossing film of 2019, hitting the milestone on Thursday. It means Disney is behind the three biggest films of the year; Avengers: End Game, which made $2.7 billion worldwide following its release in April; Captain Marvel, released in February, which made $1 billion; and now Aladdin. Directed by Guy Ritchie, the remake of the 1992 classic has won critical acclaim around the globe. Aladdin is one of a number of high-profile films set to be released by Disney this year. With Tim Burton's Dumbo already in cinemas, this summer will see the live action remake of The Lion King released, alongside the highly-anticipated Toy Story 4. Later in the year will come Frozen 2 and trilogy finale Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker.
