Kuwaiti actor Mishari al-Balam died on Thursday after contracting Covid-19. The 48-year-old star had been in intensive care at Kuwait's Jaber Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Hospital since Saturday. His cousin, Hassan al-Balam, who is also an actor, confirmed the news on Instagram on Thursday evening. The <em>Maa' Hest Qalam </em>actor's health had deteriorated after contracting the virus. Kuwaiti TV personality May Al-Aidan announced the actor’s hospitalisation on Saturday, writing that his health had suffered because of low levels of oxygen in his blood. Hypoxaemia is one of the more severe symptoms of Covid-19 “Your prayers to our brother, the artist Mishari Al-Balam,” she wrote on her Twitter page. Al-Balam posted a photo of himself on his Instagram account one week ago, confirming that he had Covid-19. Don’t forget me in your prayers,” he wrote. On February 11, the actor had shared a video as he received the first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, urging his followers to also get vaccinated. The screen and stage actor began his career in 1991 in Kuwait’s theatres. He progressed into television and had starred in more than 56 shows and series.
