Commitment to a movie, especially one involving hi-octane action scenes such as Race 3, can have occupational hazards for an actor. Jacqueline Fernandez, the Sri Lankan-born lead actress of the film, has confirmed that a minor eye injury she suffered in Abu Dhabi in March has caused permanent damage. The 32-year-old is a fitness freak and was in the UAE capital over the March and April period for the filming of the Salman Khan production of the third franchise in the Race series. Directed by Remo D'Souza and featuring Khan himself, Fernandez hurt her eye while playing squash but continued shooting after initial assessments did not show any reason to worry. But the actress took to Instagram late on Sunday night to confirm she may have suffered irrevocable damage to the edge of her iris. She wrote: "So it's a permanent injury and my iris will never be a perfect round again but so so grateful I can see!! #race3memories #abudhabi." The development comes days before the release of the movie on the occasion of Eid on Friday. Fernandez earlier took training in martial arts and modified her diet plan to adapt to the needs of the film, with Race 3 set to become the first Indian action movie to be released in 3D. Meanwhile, the actress continued to stay true to her positive words and remained cheerful in a subsequent post on Instagram. She wished the best to another actress Jhanvi Kapoor, the daughter of Sridevi, who died of a cardiac arrest in a Dubai hotel early this year. She wrote: "💗 special shout out to @janhvikapoor for her trailer launch tomo!!! So excited for you 💗💗" Sridevi's brother-in-law, Anil Kapoor, is in a major role again in Race 3 and the only common link left in all three franchises of the movie title. The filming of the climax scenes of the movie involved an intense schedule in Abu Dhabi with the crew wrapping up in the first week of April, followed by post-production work, which was done at a furious pace to get it ready for this week's release.
