Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, this week uploaded a new video to his already popular YouTube channel. Entitled My First Horse, it appears to be the first episode in a series based on the leader's memoir, My Story: 50 Memories from 50 Years of Service, which charts his journey from young royal to Prime Minister, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. The short video runs for just under seven minutes and tells the story of Umm Halaj, Sheikh Mohammed's first horse. "What is the difference between your first love and your first horse?" he says in the opening scene. "To me, there is no difference at all." It offers the ruler's 416,000 subscribers new insight into his childhood, sharing how he treated the horse's injury and how he prepared her for her first race. The story is told in Arabic, with English subtitles, and clips combine reenactments and real-life footage. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, also features in the video. Sheikh Mohammed's love of horses is no secret. In March last year he paid homage to this lifelong adoration with a new book of 18 poems, called For the Love of Horses. He has won horse races across the world and in 1996 Sheikh Mohammed founded the Dubai World Cup, one of the richest horse racing meetings in the world.
