Rock, rap, opera, ballet and classical music concerts are some of the performances coming soon to the UAE. A host of global stars will take centre stage, from pop stars Christina Aguilera and Amr Diab to an anticipated restaging of Mamma Mia! The Abu Dhabi Festival returns with a series of orchestral and dance performances, while the Abu Dhabi Comedy Season brings more laughs with stand-up shows featuring Kevin Hart, Jo Koy and Bill Burr. Here, The National rounds up the best upcoming live events. Svetlana Zakharova, an internationally renowned ballerina, will perform in a double-bill ballet called Modanse . She will be joined by a cast of well-known dancers from the Bolshoi Theatre, as well as modern dance star Ildar Young-Gainutdinov. Since their debut international show in 1981, the ensemble has given about 7,000 performances in more than 50 countries. Meaning “heartbeat” in Japanese, Kodo’s Abu Dhabi show will be an intricate and dazzling display of percussion prowess. The largest drum used in the show weighs up to three tonnes and is made from the trunk of a single tree.
