Becky Hill and Rudimental will headline this year’s post-race concert at the Dubai World Cup. The event will take place at the Meydan Racecourse on March 26, however, it is only for ticket holders of the sporting event. Hill rose to fame after appearing on The Voice UK in 2012. Although she didn’t win the reality singing competition, she became the first contestant to score a UK No 1 with her song Gecko (Overdrive). She last performed in the UAE as part of RedFestDXB in 2020. Since her time on the show, she’s been nominated for two Brit Awards including Song of the Year for Remember with David Guetta and won Best Dance Act. Her other hits include Wish You Well, Space and the newly released, Run. Meanwhile, Rudimental, perhaps best known for the 2013 hit Waiting All Night, will perform a set of electronic tunes. It's not the first time they've performed in the UAE, either. In 2016, the Feel the Love singers took to the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre stage. They also rang in the 2019 New Year at Zero Gravity. This year’s Dubai World Cup will boast a total purse of more than $30.5 million, up from the $26.5m of the 2021 event. For the first time, all races will offer at least $1m in prize money. "The directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to increase the prize money for the 2021-2022 flat-racing season are part of Dubai’s commitment to support global horse racing in rebounding from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic as well as enhancing the horizons of excellence in both domestic and international racing," said Sheikh Rashid bin Dalmook bin Juma Al Maktoum, chairman of the board of Dubai Racing Club. “As a major hub for horse racing events, Dubai will continue to take leadership in introducing initiatives that boost the sector and revitalise the global fraternity of horse owners, trainers and other equestrian professionals. We look forward to witnessing more iconic races, discovering new stars, and celebrating this wonderful sport in our new season, which begins in November."
