Al Ain Music Festival returns tomorrow with another series of performances from locally based artists. Back for a fifth edition, the festival is held in various venues across the Garden City, with concerts ranging from classical to funk and rock. It starts tomorrow night with the Garden City Classics. Held at the cultural and wellness centre La Dolce Vita, the concert will feature a bevy of UAE-based talent led by American soprano Sherri Weiler and the duo Ilya Netkach (violin) and Natalia Nechepurenko (piano) - both of whom are music instructors at the House of Arts Institute. The action then moves to Danat Al Ain Resort Hotel on Saturday, with a free open mic night for musicians. Brazilian singer Midian Almedia will headline the Acoustic Vibes! concert on November 16 at La Dolce Vita with her brand of bossa nova and pop. She will be supported by Northern Irish and British vocalists Joan McEldowney and Atlanta Frith respectively. The following night (November 17) is for jazz fans. Local performers will headline the All About Jazz concert at Al Ain Rotana, featuring saxophonist Paul Moutarde and keyboardist Tamas Antal. The festival centrepiece, the popular Young Hands and Voices concert, returns on November 24, at the Al Ain Academy Auditorium, with music from the students of up to 10 Al Ain-based schools.
