Fancy having your music heard and critiqued by a leading hip-hop producer? Well, thanks to a new online series of music events, regional artists will now get that opportunity. Being launched on Wednesday, May 13, at 10pm, by creative hub Nomad, the #TodaysIcons series of online conversations aims to have leading media personalities from several disciplines engage with the regional arts and entertainment industry. Kicking off the series, which will be streamed live on Nomad's Instagram's page, is Hit-Boy. The Grammy Award winner is one of hip-hop's hottest producers, who in his 10-year career has worked with the likes of Beyonce (XO), Kanye West (Clique), Drake (Trophies) and Travis Scott (Sicko Mode). In his one-hour conversation, to be moderated by Dubai producer Mohammad Bailouni, Hit-Boy (real name Chauncey Hollis) will shed light on his production techniques and the equipment he uses, and offer up some killer anecdotes about working with the genre's biggest stars. This will be followed by an anticipated listening session, in which Hit-Boy will go through submissions from regional hip-hop musicians and provide some constructive criticism. Who knows, maybe one or even a few of the tracks will be so good they lead to a career-changing collaboration for their owners. For the opportunity to have your work heard by the man himself, send your tunes to www.nomaddubai.com. Based in Dubai, Nomad is a newly launched regional talent incubator. Creatives are encouraged to sign up to keep up to date with the organisation, which will eventually open a physical site near Dubai Outlet Mall, complete with a recording and filming studio, eSports events, workshops and work spaces. “The goal is to foster a collaborative environment with cost-effective solutions on offer for members to pursue their business ideas and creative endeavours,” reads the company’s statement. “Through driving a grassroots movement with youth, creative artists, start-ups and content creators, Nomad will serve as an enabling platform for entrepreneurs and the creative economy globally.”
