Did Joe Jonas just accidentally let slip the forthcoming comeback of one of the biggest bands of the 2000s? While promoting the first Jonas Brothers album in six years, Happiness Begins, Jonas revealed that My Chemical Romance have been having jam sessions. When the subject of pop-punk bands was brought up on the UK's Kiss Breakfast show on Kiss FM, Jonas said, "I've got some dirt." He added: “My Chemical Romance apparently were rehearsing next to us in New York recently, which I thought they broke up, so I don't know. That’s the gossip!" The band, who called it quits in 2013 to their fans' utter dismay, has up until now made a reunion sound unlikely. "I don't think so," said ex-frontman Gerard Way when asked the question by The Guardian in February. “I think if we ever did MCR again, we wouldn’t be in that machine any more,” he said. “It would literally just be like: ‘Here’s a new piece of music, we’re putting this out and that’s it, this is not up for debate’.” Since disbanding, members have been working on their own artistic projects. Most prominently, this year's Netflix superhero series The Umbrella Academy on which Way has gained success as writer and producer. Others have been working on their music. Guitarist Frank Iero has announced his new project Frank Iero and the Future Violents, while bassist Mikey Way has formed Electric Century. This year also brought Ray Toro together with Way for the track Hazy Shade Of Winter – the closest thing to a new My Chemical Romance record to be heard in years. My Chemical Romance devotees have been hoping for a full reunion since they disbanded. So, does the recent band rehearsal necessarily mean a band reunion? Only time will tell. _________________ Read more: Elton John biopic ‘Rocketman’ is finally ready for lift-off Are U2 set for a UAE and Saudi Arabian tour? When boy bands hit the MTV Video Music Awards _________________
