Rap legend Nas will headline this year’s Sole DXB. The New York rapper will make his UAE debut on the closing day of the three-day street culture festival, which returns to the Dubai Design District from December 6 to 8. Nas has been revered as an influential hip-hop figure ever since his 1994 debut Illmatic. The album remains hailed as a classic because of the lyrical depth on display and Nas's cinematic storytelling. Ever since, he continued to build on his strengths with subsequent albums, and recently released his latest album Nasir which was produced by Kanye West. Hey may not have as many current hits like the latter, but Nas's street anthems such as The World is Yours, Street Dreams and Made You Look should receive a rapturous reception in Dubai. He will be joined by string of eclectic artists who will perform in Sole DXB’s various stages. Grime fans will welcome the arrival of Giggs, who will perform his signature tracks such as Walk in da Park and his Drake collaboration KMT on November 7. Hip-hop luminary Roxanne Shante will also make her regional debut at Sole DXB on Saturday. The rapper's life and struggles was immortalised in the biopic, Roxanne Roxanne, which premiered at the Sundance Festival last year. Also on the agenda is South African rising star Sho Madjozi and promising hip-hop producer and DJ Masego, who will both perform on Friday. New York rap duo Lion Babe, who recently performed at Coachella earlier this year, and the Dominican American soul singer DaniLeigh, will take the stage on Saturday. ____________________
Read more:
