Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II have <a href="https://deadline.com/2019/03/black-mirror-anthony-mackie-yahya-abdul-mateen-ii-cast-in-season-5-1202579630/">reportedly</a> been cast in the upcoming series of <em>Black Mirror</em>. The news that Mackie, who plays Falcon in <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/film/review-avengers-infinity-war-is-an-epic-assembly-of-heroes-villains-and-emotion-1.724603"><em>Avengers: Infinity War</em></a>, and Abdul-Mateen II, who plays the villain Black Manta in <em>Aquaman</em>, will both star in the Emmy Award-wining sci-fi series is welcome, since there have not yet been any official updates about a new season from Netflix. All we know so far is that <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/television/review-black-mirror-bandersnatch-is-a-post-modern-masterpiece-1.807266"><em>Black Mirror: Bandersnatch</em></a>, a groundbreaking "Choose-Your-Own-Adventure" style one-off episode, was not a replacement for a full series. Each episode of <em>Black Mirror </em>is a standalone story with a different cast and is not yet known whether Mackie and Abdul-Mateen II will even feature in the same episode. Mackie is due to star in another Netflix series, <em>Altered Carbon</em>, while Abdul-Mateen II is rumoured to be in line for the lead role in <a href="https://www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/film/inside-the-mind-of-jordan-peele-the-man-who-takes-a-bruising-look-at-the-american-psyche-1.839497">Jordan Peel</a><a href="http://www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/film/inside-the-mind-of-jordan-peele-the-man-who-takes-a-bruising-look-at-the-american-psyche-1.839497">e's <em>Candyman</em> sequel</a>. <em>Black Mirror </em>is an anthology series that focuses on what happens when the relationship between humans and technology goes wrong.
