Ahead of its season four premiere on Netflix, The Crown has released new images showing Emma Corrin, 24, and Josh O'Connor, 30, as Princess Diana and Prince Charles, recreating the royal couple's engagement in February 1981. The actress will make her anticipated debut as the late Princess of Wales in the upcoming season, and many are already praising Corrin for perfecting her portrayal. In the new images, the star captures Diana's famously coy facial expressions as she is introduced to the public while surrounded by photographers and the press. Scroll through to see the images: “The engagement of Charles and Diana. A moment that changed everything,” says the Instagram caption. Last month, an image showing Corrin in a replica of Diana’s famed taffeta and lace wedding gown was released. “One of the most iconic things was the wedding dress – that was an insane moment,” Corrin said of filming the fourth season. “The Emanuels, who designed her wedding dress, came in and gave [the wardrobe design team] all the original designs, so it was a complete replica." Season four of the show is set during the late 1970s, as Queen Elizabeth II looks to safeguard the line of succession by ensuring Charles marries and will feature his 1981 wedding to Princess Diana. The series will also touch on the Falklands War, and will explore growing tension between the Queen and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. It will also star Tobias Menzies as the Duke of Edinburgh, Erin Doherty as Princess Anne, Emerald Fennell as Camilla Parker Bowles and Marion Bailey as the Queen Mother. It will be released on Netflix on Sunday, November 15.
