When it came to Britney Spears's performance last Friday, as part of the Formula One concert series, it was a case one person's loss and another one's gain. The pop diva's performance has been roundly panned as focusing more on the stage production but less on the delivery of songs, with even diehard fans bemoaning the show's meager running time - 70 minutes - and the lack of big hits played. All of this resulted in a boon for the food stalls at both sides of the stage, with punters seemingly taking their frustration out by ripping into Dh30 shawarmas and hot dogs. "It was really busy," said Zain, an employee at one of the shawarma stalls. "Sometimes when a performer is not playing good or engaging with the audiences they buy more food and drinks, so it gets really busy. When the performance is really good, every body focuses on the stage and we are not busy at all." However, there are some exceptions to the rule. Metallica may have enthralled 20,000 people at Yas Arena last month, but according to Zain, metal-heads are fond of fast-food. "That was very busy, non-stop, and lots of fun," he said. "The music was very loud and people were coming here all the time ordering everything. I enjoy it like this, as it's not boring and I get to enjoy the music as well."
