Seminal works from the British artist Damien Hirst will be shown for the first time in the region later this year as Qatar Museum's Authority (QMA) announced a retrospective set to show in October. Death is a common theme in his work and visitors will surely be queuing up to see such pieces as <em>The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living - </em>a fully grown tiger shark floating in formaldehyde and <em>For the Love of God</em>- a diamond-encrusted skull. For the Love of God by Damien Hirst The show, titled <em>Relics</em>, will be curated by the writer, critic, and internationally renowned curator Francesco Bonami, who is currently the Manilow Senior Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and hosted by QMA in the Al Riwaq space. Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the chairperson of QMA said: “Underpinning the work of the Qatar Museums Authority is our belief that art can open up new channels of communication between diverse nations, peoples and histories.” <em>Relics</em> will open in October.
